The Speed T-34

J Matthes

Remember the Twilight Zone episode without dialog? This is the modeling equivalent, no description, just a timer and some photos to tell the story. I wanted to try to build like I did as a kid. No, I didn't dig out an old, paint and decal encrusted card table. Yes, the tools, materials and abilities have changed, but the spirit hasn't. As an adult, I can't piece together five and a half hours at once, so with the aid of a chess clock, and without further ado, I present the Tamiya 1/48 T-34 in double time.

Note: I used some Tamiya colors for the weather as well as oil colors for the dirt stains. I never used the wire to spin the tow cables either. Nor did I paint the MG, the storage boxes came off after I discovered they were in the wrong position and I never put the headlight in. But that's what building like I did as a kid is all about. That and no model ever saw July 5th in one piece.

J Matthes resides in New York where he promises to build slower next time officer.
